About us

East Greenwich Legal Advice Clinic (EGLAC) is a pro bono (free) legal advice service available to people in SE postcodes in South East London who are unable to pay for legal advice privately. We also invite enquiries from charities and community groups.

All of our advisers are volunteers, as are the people who help to facilitate our clinic sessions.

We provide face-to-face advice in our fortnightly clinic appointment sessions, usually on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, from 7pm to 8.30pm.

We also run remote clinics in partnership with some law firms and individual solicitors, providing advice by telephone, email and online meeting.

Face-to-face appointments are held at Christ Church, Trafalgar Road SE10 9EQ. Christ Church is attached to the Forum Community Centre; please enter through the Forum entrance on Trafalgar Road. There is no number on the building itself but it is directly opposite The Crown pub, which is 176 Trafalgar Road. All appointments are pre-booked and depend upon availability; please do not attend our clinic without an appointment.

The church is on the following bus routes: 129, 177, 180, 188, 286 and 386. The Forum Community Centre has a useful tool on its website which gives directions by public transport from any postcode:

How to Make an Appointment

If you would like to access our services please fill out the contact form here.

If you are unable to use the form for any reason, please telephone 07806 733341 and leave a message, clearly stating your name, your postcode, your contact number and brief details about the type of legal issue involved.

We will respond to your enquiry as soon as possible (please note that we are closed on Fridays). We try to respond within 48-72 hours although please note that this is not always possible as we receive a high volume of enquiries. If we believe we may be able to assist you, we will book you in for an appointment. This may be face-to-face or it may be over the phone or by online meeting, depending upon the area of law and the availability of our volunteer advisers.

At your appointment, we will discuss your case and provide assistance to deal with your matter. Please note that we are primarily an initial advice service. In some cases we can provide some ongoing advice, but this depends on the capacity of our volunteer advisers, who are also working full-time. We will discuss this with you on an individual basis.
