“EGLAC has been the one source of reassurance and light in a very challenging time for me and my children” – client feedback
East Greenwich Legal Advice Clinic (EGLAC) is a pro bono (free) legal advice service available to persons resident or based in an SE postcode who are unable to afford legal advice elsewhere.
EGLAC is registered with the Charity Commission (RCN 1197038) and is a signatory to the Law Society’s pro bono Charter. We strive to achieve best practice in our legal advice and assistance for individuals and organisations who cannot afford access to justice.
EGLAC was launched as part of National Pro Bono Week in November 2017. We provide advice on various areas of law, principally: Family, Immigration, Welfare Benefits, Property, Wills and Probate, Civil Litigation, Housing, Contract and small businesses. Please note that we do not prepare Wills and we are unable to give advice on criminal law.

VISION
Our vision is of a society in which everyone has equal access to quality legal advice regardless of income or background.
MISSION
Our mission is to provide a vital community service to those who have nowhere else to turn, by helping people in South East London with limited means obtain legal advice when they need it. We help people navigate the legal system and provide advice to prevent problems from escalating. We aim to reduce the risk of impacts such as homelessness, unmanageable debt and increased mental health difficulties.
VALUES
Justice
We aim to create a level playing field by giving people access to justice that would not otherwise be available to them due to lack of means.
Trust
Our clients trust us to provide them with a high-quality legal advice service.
Inclusivity
We aim to be thoughtful, inclusive and respectful of the diverse clients we support.
Partnership
We value our collaborative relationships with other social service, advisory and legal organisations.
Board of Trustees
EGLAC’s board of trustees is responsible for the charity and provides the overall strategic direction. The current trustees are:
Timothy Cave (Chair)
Sue Hall (Deputy Chair)
